IDEA SERIES
The "idea" behind this series was to visually chart the creative process as it happens in the mind. While speaking with other artists I found that this process turns out to be virtually the same for most of us. Although not surprising, it is worth mentioning that the process that I took to make this series paralleled the very idea that I am trying to convey. What you see below was completely done on Adobe Photoshop CS2. The images were then printed onto canvas at 30" by 30", stretched onto frames and embellished with additional collage, gold, silver, copper leaf, and paint. The piece is intended to be read in a full circle starting with "Idea birth".

Idea Birth
This piece , as the title suggests, explores the idea's explosion and the chaos associated with its initial conception and development. In the case of this series, the girl in the dress represents the "idea"
Idea Obsession
This piece represents the obsession of the idea in the creative process. There is much time spent thinking of none other than the idea and the numerous variations that it can take.
Idea Death
Nearly every idea evolves to the point where the variations are so numerous that the idea becomes blurred and the realization is that the base idea has migrated so far from the original that it is not worth, or now impossible, to explore and the idea is discarded from furthur thought. Thus "dies".
Idea Rebirth
This piece represents the thought that the original idea and all of its variations that were discarded are still present in the back of the mind and will at some time or another be reborn. This rebirth is usually not as originally conceived, but as a component part of another thought or experience.
